100% Worsted Wool 60 inches wide

Worsted “stuff” was a term that referred to a wide variety of worsted textiles produced originally in Norwich and later in York.  These lightweight goods were characterized by their tightly twisted yarn, fineness of weave and smooth finish.  Brown was a poplular color through out the 18th century.  Often it was offered by the clothiers in a  variety of shades as  evidenced by a number of pattern books in collections such as the worsteds of Norwich and the broadcloths of Trowbridge. The grades of stuff varied from coarse to fine and could be plain or twill woven.  Our fabric is light weight, twill woven and is well suited to Lady’s gowns and petticoats, Men’s waistcoats,  linings, aprons, mitts and other accessories as well as children’s gowns.
