Linen Canvas in the 18th century could be made of flax or hemp.  Woven in a very regular, tight pattern  and in grades of fine to coarse, it was used for a variety of purposes From stays, to buckram  (See our tutorial on making buckram here) to needlework,  clothing and  utilitarian needs, it was hard wearing and diverse.  Our linen weighs in at over 10 ounces per square yard and is tightly woven.  Suitable for a variety of uses such as stays, petticoats, jackets, shortgowns, bedgowns, aprons, hunting shirts, buckram, men's breeches and trousers, waistcoats and summer jackets. Could be used for tenting as well as a variety of household needs.
