Yardage:
100% Cotton 45 inches wide

This wonderful striped floral is a direct copy of a wood block printed French textile fragment dated 1775. in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg.  Printed cotton/linens, linens and cottons were a popular choice among all social classes from mid century on.  The variety of pattern and ease of care made them highly desirable and prices could range from moderate to expensive.  This beautiful print is reminiscent of  several prints we have studied both as fragments and as gowns in it's style as well as it's coloring. Although this is labeled as French, the competition between the French and English printers was fierce making for a good deal of crossover in patterns. This medium/light cotton is well suited to Lady's Gowns, jackets, matching petticoats, pieced linings, hem bands as seen on original garments, accessories such as pieced pockets, Men's wrapping gowns as well as Children's clothing and household needs.
