Worsted “stuff” was a term that referred to a wide variety of worsted textiles produced originally in Norwich and later in York.  These lightweight goods were characterized by their tightly twisted yarn, fineness of weave and smooth finish.  Drab was a very common color that varied in it's shade by the receipt used.  It is found in a variety of shades in books of Norwich as well as the Cassimeres of Yerbury. and the Broadcloths of Trowbridge. This wool is well suited to Men’s and Lady’s garments.  The grades of stuff varied from coarse to fine and could be plain or twill woven.  Our fabric is light weight, plain woven and is well suited to Lady’s gowns and petticoats, Men’s waistcoats,  linings, aprons, mitts and other accessories as well as children’s gowns.
