Worsted “stuff” was a term that referred to a wide variety of worsted textiles produced originally in Norwich and later in York.  These lightweight goods were characterized by their tightly twisted yarn, fineness of weave and smooth finish.  This made them well suited to Men’s and Lady’s garments.  The grades of stuff varied from coarse to fine and could be plain or twill woven. The color of this wool is one that we have seen in a number of extant wool samples.  In a dye receipt book of 1769 although some colors are given names such as "saxon green" or 'light briar" this color is simply referred to as "dark green",   Our fabric is light weight, plain woven and is well suited to Lady’s gowns and petticoats, Men’s waistcoats, summer coats,  linings, aprons, mitts and other accessories as well as children’s gowns. and household items.
