Originating in India and the Middle East and introduced to Europe as early as the 17th century, muslin was described as "delicately woven cotton fabric" Growing in popularity at the end of the 18th century and into the 19th century, muslin was considered highly desirable for its lightness, and ease of cleaning. Embroidering on muslin in white and in colors was a popular fashion, finding its way into accessories and gowns. Our fine muslin is emboridered with a flower and paisley motif making it suitable to the late georgian and regency period. Pefect for aprons, summer mantelets, over dresses and dresses, children's garments and summer bed hangings.
